School Groups
Itasca Sports is not open to the general public on weekdays in May until after Memorial Day. Please call ahead to reserve a date for your school group so we can ensure proper staffing for your visit.
A school group experience with Itasca Sports offers a structured, fun, and educational outdoor adventure centered around exploring Itasca State Park.
Students and chaperones are fitted with appropriate gear such as helmets or life jackets. Itasca Sports staff provide clear safety instructions and basic user guidance. The group can then break into smaller teams depending on their activity; commonly biking the park’s scenic paved trails, paddling canoes or kayaks on Lake Itasca or enjoying other watercraft experiences. These activities allow students to actively explore natural features like forests, lakes, and even the headwaters of the Mississippi River.
At the end of the rental period, groups return their equipment to the main rental location, where staff check everything back in and close out the reservation. Overall, the experience blends recreation, teamwork, and environmental exposure, giving students a memorable, hands-on way to experience the outdoors while staying organized and guided.
Evening Groups
Summer evenings in Itasca State Park are the perfect time to enjoy a relaxing bike ride on the trails or a peaceful paddle on the lake. Itasca Sports offers a special group discount for parties of 10 or more from 6 PM to 8 PM. Guests ages 18 and under can enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, biking, pedal boating, or rowing for two hours at just $12 per person, while those 19 and older can participate for $15 per person.
Reservations are required. Please call or email ahead to ensure availability for your group. This is a fantastic opportunity for scouts, sports teams, youth groups, or simply groups of friends looking to enjoy the outdoors together.
